Apple releases watchOS 27.3 beta with new AI-powered audio features
The latest watchOS 27.3 developer beta introduces automated conversation summaries and real-time transcription features for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4.
Apple has deployed the first developer beta of watchOS 27.3, bringing new AI-driven audio intelligence to the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. The update introduces two primary features: Siri Recap and Live Rewind, both integrated into the platform's Apple Intelligence framework.
Siri Recap functions by utilizing ambient listening to provide brief summaries of daily conversations, intended to help users capture key points from discussions. Complementing this, Live Rewind provides a real-time, 15-second text transcription of recent spoken dialogue. These features are currently restricted to English and require the integration of the Siri AI beta.
Privacy remains a focus for the implementation, with Apple stating that all original audio is processed within the S11 chip’s dedicated hardware enclave and deleted immediately after processing. The system is designed to exclude sensitive data such as financial details or government-issued identification numbers. Furthermore, the watch can monitor for specific ambient sounds like sirens, doorbells, or infant crying.
The beta release is currently limited to developers as Apple tests these tools for broader stability and accuracy. No timeline for a general public release was provided.
