Apple reportedly delays launch of home automation robot project
Apple has pushed back the projected release of its smart home robot to 2028 due to ongoing software development challenges, according to industry reports.

Apple’s development of a specialized smart home device, internally codenamed J595, has hit significant delays. While the hardware components have been stable for approximately two years, the product remains unreleased due to unresolved software integration issues.
Reports indicate that the project team is currently scaling back initial feature sets to prioritize core functionalities, such as FaceTime connectivity and basic smart home automation, including lighting control. The strategic shift follows internal friction regarding the device's readiness for commercial deployment.
Industry analysts suggest the delay reflects the technical difficulty of entering the robotic home assistant market. If released, the device is expected to compete in the high-end smart home segment, with former staff speculating on a potential 'HomeView Ultra' branding. A market arrival before 2027 or 2028 now appears increasingly unlikely.
