Apple reportedly developing adaptive interface for iPhone Duo to improve accessibility
Apple is working on a new Reachability feature for its upcoming foldable device, allowing users to shift external screen content to accommodate left-handed usage.
According to reports by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is engineering an interface adjustment for the iPhone Duo to better facilitate single-handed navigation. The feature would allow the primary content on the external screen to be anchored to either the left or right side, addressing specific ergonomic concerns for left-handed users.
While some potential users have voiced concerns regarding the usability of the outer screen for non-right-handed individuals, reports suggest these issues may be less significant than initially anticipated. Users noted that the inner, foldable screen typically requires two-handed interaction, effectively neutralizing handedness preferences for primary tasks.
Market analysts remain focused on the device's potential impact on the foldable smartphone sector. IDC projections indicate the device could move over 10 million units in its first year, potentially securing a 40% market share in the segment by 2027. Investment firms like Goldman Sachs have offered even higher estimates, projecting total shipments to reach 33 million units by 2027.
