Apple reports supply constraints for new iPhone Duo handset

Apple CEO John Ternus confirmed that the company is struggling to meet demand for its first foldable iPhone, with delivery times stretching into 2026.

2 November 2026

Apple CEO John Ternus reported that the company's first foldable device, the iPhone Duo, is currently facing significant supply constraints. During the earnings call for fiscal year 2026, Ternus noted that production is scaling but remains insufficient to meet current market demand, leaving the company unable to project when inventory levels will stabilize.

Prospective buyers currently face extended wait times, with new orders expected to be fulfilled in January. Physical retail availability remains minimal, as the company works to increase manufacturing output. While the iPhone Duo was a major hardware focus for the quarter, it launched after the close of the fiscal period and did not contribute to the $114.5 billion in revenue reported for the quarter.

Regarding reports of technical issues—specifically regarding screen cracking and display artifacts near the device hinge—Ternus stated that the incidents affect a small fraction of units sold. The company is currently offering replacements for customers experiencing these screen defects.

Despite the supply shortfall for its latest hardware, Apple reported a 12% year-over-year revenue increase for the fourth quarter. The market is now watching to see how quickly the company can ramp up production to mitigate the ongoing stock shortages.
