Apple reshuffles hardware leadership as display executives transition
Apple has appointed new vice presidents within its hardware division as two long-serving display technology executives prepare for retirement.
Apple is restructuring its hardware engineering leadership, with two veterans of the display technology division, Wei Chen and John Zhong, transitioning into advisory roles. Having spent roughly 30 years at the company, both executives are now preparing for retirement, with Victor Yin assuming oversight of their previous screen-related responsibilities.
In addition to the display team changes, the company has promoted Rajesh Ambati, Louie Sanguinetti, and Derek Shaeffer to the position of vice president. These appointments focus on hardware and software engineering related to internet connectivity. Other leadership shifts include the appointment of Carson Oliver to oversee the App Store and Steve Smith as the new head of corporate development.
These personnel moves follow a broader organizational consolidation implemented earlier this year, which placed the company's hardware engineering and hardware technology departments under the leadership of Johny Srouji. The changes align with Apple's standard October schedule for management updates.
