Apple Seeks HomeView Trademark for Smart Home Device

Apple may be preparing to launch a new smart home hub, indicated by trademark filings for "HomeView" under a shell company. The filings also suggest a potential new operating system, "homeOS."

9 October 2026

Apple appears to be developing a new smart home hub, with evidence emerging from trademark filings for the name "HomeView." Technology publication MacRumors reported that Apple has potentially registered the trademark using a shell company, Home Services LLC, in the United States and other countries.

Coinciding with these filings, another shell company linked to Apple, Home Operations Suite LLC, has also applied for the "homeOS" trademark. These actions suggest Apple's strategic expansion into the smart home market.

Apple is reportedly planning an event on October 13, themed "Welcome home," where the new device is expected to be unveiled. This product is anticipated to integrate features from both the HomePod speaker and iPad tablet, with early speculation suggesting the name "HomePad."

The new smart home central unit is expected to feature its own dedicated operating system, possibly named homeOS. The final product name and operating system details are expected to be confirmed at the upcoming event, should the reports prove accurate.
