Apple Sues OpenAI for Stealing Hardware Trade Secrets
Apple has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the AI company of stealing trade secrets and confidential information with the help of current and former employees.

Apple has sued artificial intelligence firm OpenAI, alleging the company illicitly obtained trade secrets and confidential information from Apple employees to advance its consumer hardware ambitions. The lawsuit centers on accusations that OpenAI, through former and current Apple staff, has been acquiring proprietary data.
The legal action focuses on three individuals who previously worked at Apple before joining OpenAI. They are accused of taking Apple's trade secrets and unreleased product designs. Apple claims OpenAI's hardware chief attempted to solicit information about secret Apple projects during job interviews. Furthermore, it is alleged that OpenAI asked job candidates to bring physical hardware components and product samples from their Apple work to interviews for demonstration purposes.
Apple also accuses OpenAI of "coaching" employees to circumvent Apple's security measures when departing the company. The lawsuit states that OpenAI provided departing employees with guidance on how to avoid Apple's security checks and exit procedures. This is a significant concern for Apple, which has noted a trend of employees failing to provide adequate notice or evading security personnel during their exit process.
Additionally, Apple accuses OpenAI of stealing its metal-finishing technique. The lawsuit alleges OpenAI used confidential information to contact Apple's manufacturing partners and gather details about Apple's components and battery technology to further its own hardware development.
