Apple targets 2027 for rollout of AI-powered household robot
Apple is developing a mobile home robot designed for video calls and automated lighting control, with a potential retail price of approximately $1,000.

Apple is accelerating development on a new robotic home device, internally code-named J595, which is intended to navigate domestic spaces autonomously. The device is expected to function as a mobile hub for FaceTime calls and integrated smart home controls, such as automatic lighting activation when users enter a room.
According to reports, the project has been under evaluation since 2018, initially gaining internal support under former CEO Tim Cook. Current development efforts are focused on expanding the robot's utility to justify a target price point of $1,000 or higher. There is speculation that the product could be marketed as a mobile counterpart to the HomeView stationary smart display.
While the company has reportedly set a 2027 target for market entry, technical hurdles and software refinements could potentially delay the launch until 2028. The shift toward home robotics represents a strategic attempt by Apple to diversify its hardware portfolio and deepen its integration into the consumer smart home market.
