Apple to Pay $250 Million in Settlement Over Siri Misleading Advertising Lawsuit

Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to settle a U.S. class-action lawsuit alleging misleading advertising for its Siri AI. The settlement requires court approval, which was granted on July 17.

Eligible iPhone users in the United States may be able to submit claims for compensation, potentially up to $95 per eligible device. The claims process is expected to begin in the coming months, though a dedicated settlement website has not yet been launched. The settlement pertains to users who purchased specific iPhone models between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.

The lawsuit stemmed from the delayed rollout of Apple's "Apple Intelligence" (in beta), which was initially advertised as capable of understanding personal information and acting contextually based on user data like emails and messages. Plaintiffs accused Apple of false advertising when the feature's release was postponed.

Apple announced its new Siri AI at WWDC26, and it is currently available in the iOS 27 developer beta, with a formal release expected in September. The company stated that resolving the lawsuit allows it to continue focusing on providing "the most innovative products and services" to its users.
