Apple to Release iOS Update Addressing iPhone Auto-Restart Issue

Apple has confirmed it is developing a software update for iOS 27, expected to be released early next week. The update will address an issue where iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices may unexpectedly restart automatically following a failed Face ID authentication attempt.

The problem, which appears to be triggered by failed Face ID attempts, has been reported by a considerable number of users across social media platforms, although it does not affect all devices. Apple's confirmation that the issue will be resolved via software means users will no longer need to seek device replacements due to potential hardware malfunctions.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max feature a redesigned Face ID sensor system, which includes relocating the infrared camera beneath the display, contributing to a smaller visible dynamic island area.

This software fix follows Apple's recent release of watchOS 27.0.1, which addressed random restarting issues on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, highlighting the company's ongoing efforts to maintain device stability.
