Apple TV+ releases psychological thriller series Nocturne
Based on novels by Lars Kepler, the series follows an incarcerated serial killer who continues to manipulate victims from behind bars.

Apple TV+ has premiered the thriller series Nocturne, adapted by Rowan Joffé from the novels Sandmann and Lazarus by Lars Kepler. The series, which features a shift in setting from the original Swedish source material to Pennsylvania, focuses on the character of Jurek Walter, portrayed by Stephen Graham.
The plot examines the activities of a serial killer who maintains influence over people through psychological manipulation despite being confined to a secure psychiatric facility. Retired investigator Jonah Lynn, played by Liev Schreiber, suspects that Walter is orchestrating criminal activities from his cell, prompting FBI agent Saga Bauer, played by Zazie Beetz, to go undercover to extract information.
The series explores the mechanics of interpersonal coercion and the investigative efforts to neutralize the threat posed by a subject who uses communication rather than physical force. Nocturne is available to subscribers of Apple TV+ as of October 30, 2026.
