Apple TV+ Series Earn Multiple Emmy Awards
Apple's streaming service, Apple TV+, achieved significant success at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, with the series "Widow's Bay" winning six awards, including best comedy series. Other Apple TV+ productions also received accolades.
Apple's streaming service, Apple TV+, secured multiple accolades at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony held in the United States on September 14.
The Apple TV+ comedy series "Widow's Bay" emerged as a major winner, taking home a total of six awards, including the award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Matthew Rhys was recognized with the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in "Widow's Bay" and also received an award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series for Netflix's "The Beast in Me." This made Rhys the first male actor to win both lead actor awards in different categories in the same year.
Other Apple TV+ series also garnered recognition. "Pluribus" received two awards, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Lea Seydoux. Additionally, "Slow Horses" secured the award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
The ceremony also honored productions from other streaming platforms. HBO Max's "The Pitt" was named Outstanding Drama Series, while "Hacks" continued its winning streak with Jean Smart taking home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
