Apple TV's 'Widow's Bay' Breaks Emmy Comedy Record

Apple TV+'s series 'Widow's Bay' set a new record on Monday night at the Emmy Awards, winning 14 awards in a single season for a comedy. The show took home the coveted award for Best Comedy Series, and star Matthew Rhys was honored with the award for Best Actor in a Comedy.

Rhys also received two additional trophies, including Best Actor in a Limited Series for "The Beast in Me," making him the first man to win two leading actor categories in the same year. Creator Katie Dippold accepted awards for directing and writing for "Widow's Bay."

The series surpassed last year's record of 13 wins for "The Studio," further solidifying Apple TV+'s dominance in the comedy categories. The streaming service has now won the Best Comedy Series award four times in the last six seasons, with previous wins for "The Studio" and "Ted Lasso."

Other notable wins included Rhea Seehorn for Best Actress in a Drama for "Pluribus" and Jean Smart for her fifth win for Best Actress in a Comedy for "Hacks." The drama series "The Pitt," which led in nominations, only secured two awards, including Best Drama Series.
