Apple's new Watch Series 12 marks the return of a ceramic case option after a six-year hiatus. The 46mm midnight blue ceramic version weighs 52.9 grams, substantially more than the 46mm aluminum GPS + Cellular model at 38.6 grams. This represents a weight increase of approximately 37% for the ceramic variant.
The company offers the Apple Watch Series 12 with three case materials: aluminum, titanium, and ceramic. The ceramic options come in two colors: pearl white and midnight blue. The choice of material directly impacts the device's overall weight.
For comparison, the 42mm aluminum GPS model weighs 31.1 grams, while the equivalent 42mm pearl white ceramic model is 41.7 grams. The titanium case model falls between aluminum and ceramic in terms of weight.
Beyond weight differences, dimensions also vary slightly. Ceramic models have a thickness of 9.85mm, whereas aluminum and titanium models are 9.7mm thick. Apple has not detailed how these weight and size variations affect user experience or technical features.
