The 27th annual meeting of the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (SEM) Advisory Board convened in Beijing on October 13-14. The gathering saw the participation of prominent global technology leaders, including Apple's CEO Tim Cook, Tencent Chairman and CEO Ma Huateng, and Baidu founder Li Yanrong.

Tim Cook, who currently chairs the advisory board, was in Beijing for the meeting as part of a multi-day visit to China. His itinerary included stops in Guangzhou and Beijing, where he visited companies such as iQiyi and an Apple Store.

The SEM Advisory Board, established in October 2000, aims to enhance the school's ties with industry and academia, elevate its research and teaching standards, and foster its development into a world-class institution. The board comprises global business leaders, including prominent figures like Jensen Huang of Nvidia and Lisa Su of AMD, who have recently joined its ranks.

Annual meetings serve as a forum for strategic discussions on the school's direction and challenges. The presence of these high-profile tech executives at the Tsinghua SEM event was noted nationally, highlighting the board's significance in connecting academia with global industry leadership.
