Apple's First Smart Home Hub Renderings Leaked
Renderings of Apple's upcoming smart home hub have surfaced, revealing a device with a 6-inch square screen, 8GB of RAM, and support for both table and wall mounting.
Details and 3D renderings of Apple's anticipated smart home hub have been revealed by a tech-focused YouTube channel, suggesting an imminent launch, potentially on October 13.
The device is expected to come in two configurations: a desktop version and a wall-mounted version. Both feature a roughly 6-inch square display with a black bezel. The desktop model reportedly resembles the iMac G4 with a circular metal base and an adjustable arm, while the wall-mounted version has a slimmer base housing speakers and microphones, with a tiltable screen. Both models are equipped with a 1080p front-facing camera for FaceTime and authentication.
Neither version includes a built-in battery and will require continuous power via USB-C. Integrated sensors are designed to detect user proximity, switching the display to controls when approached and showing information like temperature when idle. The system is also expected to support gesture controls and home automation, such as turning on lights upon entry.
Internally codenamed "Charismatic," the operating system powering the hub is rumored to be named "homeOS" at launch, blending elements from tvOS, watchOS, and iOS. Hardware specifications are expected to include an A18 chip or newer and at least 8GB of RAM to support Apple's developing AI features. Apple does not plan to introduce a dedicated App Store for this device, instead pre-installing applications like Safari, Apple Music, and FaceTime.
