Apple's Foldable iPhone Ultra Initial China Inventory Estimated at One Million Units
Mass production of Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Ultra, has begun. The initial batch for the Chinese market is estimated at just over one million units.

Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Ultra, has entered mass production, according to supply chain sources. Foxconn has reportedly begun large-scale hiring to support the production of the new device.
Chinese tech blogger Dingjiao Digital estimates that the initial inventory batch for the Chinese market will be just over one million units. This quantity is lower than the initial production volumes seen for Huawei's foldable smartphones.
This estimate aligns with projections from Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo anticipates that total shipments for the iPhone Ultra will reach between 7 million and 8 million units in the second half of 2026. For the third quarter, when the device is expected to debut, shipments are projected to be between 500,000 and 1 million units, representing approximately 10% of the total volume.
In comparison, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max combined are projected to ship 20 million to 22 million units in the third quarter, which is about 20 times higher than the anticipated volume for the foldable iPhone.
