Apple's HomePad Smart Home Device Reportedly Set for October 13 Release
Rumors suggest Apple will launch a new smart home device, possibly named HomePad, on October 13. The device is expected to serve as a central hub for the smart home.

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new smart home device, potentially named HomePad, on October 13. The device is expected to act as a central hub for the smart home, offering new ways for families to interact with technology.
Recent leaks indicate that the HomePad will feature a six-inch square display with rounded corners, similar in design to Apple's iPad products. Unlike tablets, the HomePad is not intended for portability and will not have a battery. Its screen can be angled via a metal arm connected to a rounded base housing speakers and other components. The design is said to resemble Apple's older iMac G4 model.
The device will be powered by a USB-C cable and will lack physical buttons for power or volume, similar to existing HomePod speakers. It includes a front-facing FaceTime camera for video calls but lacks a rear camera, suggesting it is not intended for photography in the same way a phone is.
Further details suggest the HomePad will offer standby mode features. It is expected to display information such as selected photos or a clock, akin to "standby" modes on smartphones, when charging or inactive. These features are reportedly designed with user privacy in mind, to prevent unintended access to personal data.
