Apple's HomeView Supports Third-Party Apps Via Face and Voice Recognition
Apple's new smart home hub, HomeView, will support third-party audio and video applications. The device can identify up to six users for a personalized experience.
Apple has introduced its new smart home hub, HomeView, which will offer support for third-party audio and video applications. This feature allows users to access services like streaming when the hub is connected to a compatible iPhone or iPad, expanding its utility within the home.
The device is designed to recognize up to six individual users within a household. This identification process utilizes the device's camera and voice recognition, rather than relying on Face ID, to provide a personalized experience for each person.
To function, HomeView requires a paired iPhone or iPad with Apple Intelligence support, connected to the home Wi-Fi network, and recently unlocked. The system first determines who might be present using camera and voice data, then verifies the status of the connected mobile device before associating the user with a personalized setup.
HomeView does not include a built-in App Store, limiting app downloads to the connected mobile device. It employs a system similar to CarPlay for integrating third-party applications. Apple Watch devices are not compatible with the HomeView user identification system.
