Apple's iPhone Duo Does Not Support WeChat Tablet Mode at Launch
Apple's new foldable iPhone Duo will not support WeChat's tablet mode upon release. This prevents users from logging into the same WeChat account on two devices simultaneously.
Apple recently unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, with prices starting at 15,999 yuan. While the device is set to be available for pre-order in October, new details have emerged regarding a limitation in its functionality.
It has been confirmed that the iPhone Duo currently does not support the tablet mode for the WeChat application. This means users will be unable to log in to the same WeChat account simultaneously on the phone's inner and outer displays, or potentially across two devices if such a mode were supported. This feature, anticipated by many foldable phone users, will be unavailable at the device's launch.
In addition to the WeChat limitation, the iPhone Duo will also lack other features at its initial release. Users will not be able to run two applications concurrently, watch two videos side-by-side, or record the screen from the inner and outer displays independently. Furthermore, different wallpapers cannot be set for the internal and external screens.
The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch internal display and a 5.4-inch external display, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is slated to support the Apple Pencil later this year. The device is powered by an A20 Pro processor and utilizes eSIM technology. The manufacturer claims up to 24 hours of battery life and fast charging capabilities.
