Apple's new iPhone Duo sells out during pre-orders
Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, exceeded expectations during pre-orders, with delivery estimates stretching into late January. The phone starts at $1,999.

Apple has begun pre-orders for its new iPhone Duo, and the device has been met with unexpectedly strong demand. The majority of units intended for launch-day pickup sold out quickly, and online delivery estimates now stretch into late January.
The company's latest smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is Apple's most expensive iPhone to date, starting at $1,999 and reaching $3,199 for the 2TB storage configuration. This positions the Duo in a new price tier above the Pro and Pro Max models.
According to analysts, the Duo's high price point and novel design could increase Apple's average selling price per device. It may attract customers seeking a premium product and reinforce the iPhone's status as a symbol, potentially boosting sales of other iPhone models.
The market share for foldable phones is expected to grow but likely remain small relative to traditional smartphones. IDC forecasts that foldables will account for just over 2% of smartphone unit shipments in 2026 but nearly 7% of industry revenue. By 2030, this revenue share is projected to reach 10%, while unit volume remains comparatively low.
