Apple's Safari Browser in iOS 27 to Feature AI-Powered Tab Organization

Apple's forthcoming iOS 27 operating system is set to introduce substantial upgrades to its Safari web browser, leveraging artificial intelligence for several key functions. As reported by MacRumors, these enhancements include AI-powered automatic tab organization, the ability to create custom browser extensions, and website change monitoring.

A core new feature integrates Apple Intelligence to manage browsing sessions. Safari will analyze open tabs and automatically categorize them by topic, allowing users to group research-related sites separately from travel planning pages, for instance. A "Continue Reading" section on the start page will also display recently closed topic groups and tabs open on other devices.

The AI capabilities extend to custom extension development. Users will be able to describe their desired functionality, and Safari will generate a tailored extension. Additionally, the browser will monitor websites for content changes and notify users, a feature beneficial for tracking concert ticket availability or product stock.

Other updates include the automatic updating of weak or compromised passwords via the Passwords app. These advanced AI features require Apple Intelligence, which will be available on iPhone 15 Pro models and later. Safari's performance and energy efficiency are also reported to see improvements.

Furthermore, Apple is adding a "Request to Browse" parental control feature in iOS 27, requiring parental approval before children can access new websites. The official release of iOS 27 is expected this fall alongside new iPhone hardware.
