Apple's upcoming HomeView device to feature integrated security camera capabilities
Software leaks from the unreleased HomeView device indicate that Apple plans to integrate HomeKit security camera functionality into the display hub.
New findings in the HomeView Software 27.2 localization files suggest that Apple is equipping its forthcoming smart home hub with integrated security camera features. The device, designed for home monitoring, will allow household members to view real-time footage or recorded video through the display.
Apple has outlined four distinct operational states for the camera: completely disabled, motion detection with notifications, live streaming, and full recording capability. Users will also have the option to set specific schedules, such as disabling the camera when residents are home and activating it when the house is empty.
Although these details have emerged through software analysis, Apple remains in the testing phase for this functionality. The company has not provided an official release date for HomeView, and a near-term market introduction is considered unlikely at this stage.
