Arboreal Bioinnovations Secures $28 Million for Nutrition Ingredients
Indian specialty nutrition ingredients startup Arboreal Bioinnovations has raised ₹230 crore (approximately $28 million) in a Series A funding round. The capital will be used to expand manufacturing capacity and bolster research and development.

Arboreal Bioinnovations, an Indian startup specializing in food and nutraceutical ingredients, has raised ₹230 crore (approximately $28 million) in a Series A funding round. The round was co-led by EAAA Alternatives and Omnivore, with participation from existing investor Rainmatter by Zerodha.
The Lucknow-based company plans to allocate the new capital towards expanding its manufacturing capacity, strengthening its research and development capabilities, and accelerating the commercialization of its next-generation functional ingredients. Founded in 2018, Arboreal Bioinnovations develops proprietary functional ingredients for brands in the food, beverage, and nutraceutical sectors.
Its product portfolio includes proteins, cocoa-based ingredients, natural zero-calorie sweeteners, and functional fibers, designed to meet specific nutritional, sensory, and commercial requirements. Arboreal Bioinnovations states it serves over 1,100 consumer brands and nutraceutical manufacturers. Its ingredients have been incorporated into more than 300 product launches over the past 18 months.
The funding comes amid rising demand for clean-label, functional, and science-backed food ingredients. Consumer trends focusing on increased protein intake, sugar reduction, and gut health are driving demand for these types of ingredients. The Indian market for specialty food ingredients is projected to grow steadily, presenting opportunities for ingredient manufacturers serving both domestic and global brands.
Unlike direct-to-consumer (D2C) nutrition startups, Arboreal Bioinnovations operates in the B2B space, supplying ingredients to other brands rather than selling finished products directly to consumers.
