Archer Aviation CEO Adam Goldstein emphasized the company's focus on achieving air taxi certification by 2028. The "Thunder" aircraft is designed to complement crewed aircraft and helicopters in defense operations. Archer and Anduril initially partnered in 2024.
The company is known for its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, aimed at reducing emissions and urban congestion. However, the technology has encountered more regulatory and infrastructure hurdles than initially anticipated, leading to delays in certification timelines. A U.S. government program to accelerate the deployment of eVTOL aircraft has provided support to Archer and industry peers in recent months.

Defense applications represent a significant market for Archer amidst escalating geopolitical tensions. Notably, the defense concept does not require the same rigorous certification process as commercial use cases, potentially accelerating its adoption.
