Arctic Project Permitting Schedule Published, Decision Targeted for September 2028
Trilogy Metals announced the publication of a federal and state permitting schedule for its Arctic Project. A Record of Decision is targeted for September 2028.

Trilogy Metals Inc. announced on July 16, 2026, the publication of an integrated federal and state permitting schedule for its Arctic Project in Alaska's Ambler Mining District. The established timeline targets a final decision by September 2028.
The Arctic Project, a high-grade copper-zinc-lead-gold-silver deposit, is being advanced by Ambler Metals LLC, a 50/50 joint venture between Trilogy Metals and South32 Limited. The project was designated as a FAST-41 Covered Project in May 2026, initiating a coordinated and publicly tracked permitting process.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has been confirmed as the lead federal agency. The schedule incorporates permitting milestones from both federal agencies and the State of Alaska, facilitated by a new Memorandum of Understanding between the state and the Permitting Council. This is the first statewide FAST-41 MOU of its kind.
Under the published schedule, the federal environmental review process is expected to take approximately 29 months. A Record of Decision is targeted for September 2028, with all necessary permits anticipated to be secured by November 2028. This timeline is intended to be more efficient than historical benchmarks for similar reviews.
