Argo Space develops water-based propulsion technology
Founded by former SpaceX engineers, Argo Space is designing orbital infrastructure that utilizes water as a propellant to reduce dependence on Earth-based fuel supplies.

Argo Space, a startup established in late 2022 by siblings Robert, Ryan, and Kirby Carlisle, is focusing on in-space infrastructure rather than traditional rocket manufacturing. The founders, who previously held engineering roles at SpaceX, are aiming to address the logistical challenges of orbital transportation.
The core of the company's technical strategy involves utilizing water as a propellant. By moving away from conventional fuels that must be launched from Earth, the company hopes to leverage water harvested from lunar sources or other celestial bodies to facilitate movement within the solar system.
This shift in strategy targets the high costs associated with launching fuel into orbit. By establishing a supply chain that relies on extraterrestrial resources, Argo Space seeks to create more sustainable transportation systems for future orbital missions.
