ArkBio Completes Dosing in Phase I Trial of Influenza Drug AK0406 in Australia

Shanghai Ark Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. announced on July 23, 2026, that all cohorts of healthy volunteers have completed dosing in an Australian Phase I clinical trial evaluating AK0406, a novel long-acting antiviral-Fc conjugate (AFC) drug developed for influenza prophylaxis. The trial has now progressed to the follow-up phase.

AK0406 is a new long-acting antiviral agent developed by ArkBio. The drug is designed by conjugating potent antiviral compounds to an antibody Fc fragment, aiming to provide sustained pre- and post-exposure protection against influenza. It also has potential therapeutic benefits, addressing unmet needs in influenza prevention. Preclinical data suggest AK0406 demonstrates broad-spectrum, high-potency activity against both influenza A and B viruses, retains Fc-mediated effector functions, and provides a prolonged protective effect.

The company stated that AK0406 has been optimized for an ideal pharmacological profile for both preventing and treating influenza infections. Influenza remains a significant global public health challenge.
