Arkstone launches AI clinical decision tool for infectious disease management
Arkstone has introduced Arkstone Next, an AI-driven platform designed to provide clinical decision support for antibiotic prescribing in outpatient and long-term care settings.

Health technology firm Arkstone has launched Arkstone Next, a clinical decision support platform aimed at helping medical professionals manage infectious diseases in environments where specialized expertise is often unavailable. The tool is designed for use in rural clinics, urgent care centers, and skilled nursing facilities.
According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a significant percentage of outpatient antibiotic prescriptions are unnecessary, contributing to the broader crisis of antimicrobial resistance. Arkstone Next attempts to address this by providing data-driven guidance on medication selection, dosage, and duration, or recommending against treatment when antibiotics are not clinically indicated.
Built upon the company’s existing OneChoice technology, the platform includes an AI assistant named ARKIE and a portal that integrates with existing electronic health records (EHR). The company states that the intelligence model is governed and validated by infectious disease experts, aiming to ensure that clinicians receive actionable, evidence-based recommendations.
By streamlining access to infectious disease guidance, Arkstone intends to reduce administrative burdens associated with antimicrobial stewardship compliance. Early adopters in the urgent care sector report that the tool has assisted clinicians in determining treatments more efficiently, potentially reducing costs associated with unnecessary care and hospital readmissions.
