Artist Carol Neiger is opening her first solo exhibition, Continuum: Selected Works by Carol Neiger, in Evanston this August. The exhibition, featuring paintings and monotypes created over a four-decade span, will be on view at Grove Gallery from August 1 to 28.

Neiger, who for nearly forty years led NeigerDesign, a respected Chicago-based marketing and design firm, has pursued painting as a parallel creative practice to her professional career. While her work focused on helping non-profit organizations, healthcare institutions, and associations tell their stories, her studio served as a space for personal artistic exploration.

The Continuum exhibition brings together works shaped by Neiger's observation, experimentation, and engagement with themes of memory, landscape, and the passage of time. Working primarily in oil and monotype, Neiger often begins paintings with spontaneous pours and layers of acrylic, gradually discovering imagery within them. Through successive layers of transparent oil glazes, abstract passages evolve into landscapes and forms that suggest remembered places rather than literal depictions.

Neiger, an alumna of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, has exhibited in numerous juried and invitational shows throughout the Midwest. She is also a Jewish Art Salon Fellow and founder of Jewish Artists Collective Chicago. Her work explores themes of place, memory, cultural identity, and the relationship between abstraction and representation. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, from 2:00 to 6:30 p.m. as part of Evanston Made's First Saturday gallery walk.
