Arturia Adds Sound Design Tools to AstroLab Synthesizers

Arturia has released the AstroLab 2.0 firmware update for its popular AstroLab stage keyboards, significantly enhancing the devices' sound design potential. The update now permits deeper access to individual instrument parameters, expanding upon previously limited customization.

The AstroLab series keyboards integrate Arturia's Analog Lab software suite, featuring a wide array of vintage synth emulations, sampled pianos, and original instrument plugins, into a playable hardware format. Previously, users were limited to light tweaking of patches via four macro controls and effects, restricting true sound manipulation and positioning the instrument primarily as a preset browser.

The newly introduced Sound Edit menu allows musicians to delve into and modify all parameters of any instrument, offering a greater degree of creative control than before. While this update transforms the AstroLab into a more comprehensive sound design tool, the intuitiveness of its interface for creating entirely new patches is still under evaluation.

With this firmware upgrade, Arturia's AstroLab keyboards solidify their role as stage instruments that provide more than just preset playback, addressing musicians' desires for deeper, personalized sound shaping during live performances.
