Asador Etxebarri named number one in The 50 Best Restaurants 2026 ranking
The Spanish restaurant Asador Etxebarri has taken the top spot in the 2026 The 50 Best Restaurants list, announced at a ceremony in Lima.
Asador Etxebarri, located in Atxondo, Spain, has been named the world's best restaurant in the 2026 edition of The 50 Best Restaurants ranking. The announcement was made on November 4 in Lima, Peru, highlighting culinary excellence across six continents.
Led by chef and owner Victor Arguinzoniz, the establishment is recognized for its techniques in wood-fired cooking. The restaurant serves a 14-course menu that focuses on specific preparation methods for simple ingredients. Following the leader in the rankings were Gaggan in Bangkok at number two and Alchemist in Copenhagen at number three.
The 2026 list features entries from 28 territories, including 11 restaurants appearing for the first time. The awards program, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, also distributed various category prizes for sustainable practices, pastry work, and service excellence.
