Asador Etxebarri named world's top restaurant in 2026 industry ranking
The Spanish restaurant Asador Etxebarri has claimed the top spot on the 2026 list of The 50 Best Restaurants, unveiled at an event in Lima.
Asador Etxebarri, located in Atxondo, Spain, has been named the world’s best restaurant for 2026 by The 50 Best Restaurants organization. The ranking, which evaluates culinary venues across 28 territories, was announced during a ceremony in Lima, Peru.
Led by chef-owner Victor Arguinzoniz, the establishment specializes in Basque wood-fire cooking and serves a 14-course signature menu. The second and third positions were awarded to Gaggan in Bangkok and Alchemist in Copenhagen, respectively.
The 2026 list includes 11 first-time entries and five returning venues. Additionally, the organization recognized leaders in specific regions, such as Atomix in New York for North America and La Colombe in Cape Town for Africa.
