Asia's Startup Funding Nears Record High in Q3, Driven by AI
Startup funding in Asia remained near a multi-year high in the third quarter, despite a slight decrease from Q2. Investments in AI companies were a significant driver of the total.

Startup funding in Asia held up at its second-highest level in years during the third quarter, even as investment figures saw a slight decrease from the previous quarter. Investors deployed a total of $38.5 billion across reported seed- through growth-stage financings in the region.
A significant portion, approximately 55% or an estimated $21 billion, was directed towards AI-focused companies, mirroring global investment trends. The largest single funding round was secured by Beijing-based foundational model company Moonshot AI, which raised $3.5 billion in July.
China emerged as the leading destination for venture investment by a wide margin. Roughly $27 billion, or 70% of all Asian startup funding in Q3, went to companies based in China. India followed distantly with $2.9 billion, and Singapore was third with $2.5 billion.
Late-stage funding rounds captured the most capital, totaling around $20 billion. Seed funding, meanwhile, reached its highest level in years, bolstered by investor enthusiasm for AI. Deal counts remained relatively flat, indicating a concentration of capital into favored startups rather than an increase in overall activity.
