ASRock Z970 motherboards appear in customs records ahead of Nova Lake launch

Customs filings confirm ASRock is shipping Z970-based motherboards, signaling preparations for Intel’s upcoming Nova Lake desktop platform.

3 November 2026

Customs data indicates that ASRock has begun shipping two new motherboard models, the Z970 LiveMixer WiFi and Z970 Pro-A WiFi. The components, manufactured in Vietnam, represent the hardware vendor's ongoing development efforts for Intel's next-generation Nova Lake-S desktop architecture.

The upcoming 900-series platform utilizes the new LGA-1954 socket. While the official public release is expected during CES 2027, manufacturers typically circulate evaluation units to partners and technical reviewers several months in advance to ensure platform readiness.

The Z970 chipset is positioned to bring CPU multiplier overclocking to a more accessible price point. While full base clock (BCLK) overclocking remains reserved for the premium Z990 chipset, Z970 provides 34 PCIe lanes, including 14 chipset-downstream PCIe 4.0 lanes. CPU-direct PCIe 5.0 support remains available for high-speed components like GPUs and NVMe storage.

ASRock is maintaining its existing product naming convention, with the LiveMixer series aimed at content creators and the Pro-A series targeting standard desktop builds. Including these recent filings, ASRock has now registered eight distinct models within the 900-series lineup.
