ASSA ABLOY Sells PKI Business Unit to Vista Equity Partners
Swedish security giant ASSA ABLOY has agreed to sell its Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) business unit within HID to American private equity firm Vista Equity Partners.
ASSA ABLOY, a global leader in access solutions, announced on October 17, 2026, that it has signed an agreement to sell its HID division's Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) business unit to Vista Equity Partners. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
The divested business provides digital trust, identity, authentication, encryption, and certificate management solutions. The unit includes PKI SaaS offerings such as IdenTrust and HydrantID, along with credential management and ZeroSSL capabilities. In 2025, the business unit generated sales of $58 million with a strong operating margin.
"I am very satisfied that with Vista, the PKI business unit and its employees and customers gain a committed long-term investor," said Nico Delvaux, President and CEO of ASSA ABLOY. The company, a leader in access solutions, will continue to focus on its core operations.
The sale aims to streamline ASSA ABLOY's portfolio and provide the PKI business with a dedicated investor to foster its growth. Vista Equity Partners, known for its focus on technology companies, is expected to leverage its market expertise and resources to further develop the business amidst evolving market demands.
