Engineering firm Assystem has acquired Mactech Energy Group, a UK company specializing in construction services for the nuclear industry. The acquisition aims to strengthen Assystem's presence and capabilities within the United Kingdom's growing nuclear sector.
The move is positioned as a long-term investment supporting the UK's projected expansion of nuclear power, with plans for significant new capacity in the coming decades. Assystem seeks to accelerate the construction phase of these projects, contributing to the UK's goal of achieving low-carbon power by 2030.
Mactech brings over 37 years of experience in site-based construction activities at UK nuclear facilities. Its established network of skilled resources is expected to enhance Assystem's capacity for new build, decommissioning, and defense-related nuclear projects.
Mactech will continue to operate independently under Assystem Holding UK, retaining its brand and market position. The company will maintain its support for ongoing projects, including those at Hinkley Point C and for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
