Engineering and consulting firm Assystem has released its global PMO Insights Report 2023/24, analyzing trends and developments within Project Management Offices (PMOs) in the construction and engineering sectors.
Assystem, an international engineering and technology consulting group, has published its global PMO Insights Report 2023/24. The report details current trends and developments within Project Management Offices (PMOs) across the construction and engineering sectors worldwide.
The survey gathered responses from over 700 professionals working on major projects in transport, energy, and urban development. The findings cover topics such as digital PMOs, project controls, skills and capabilities, data management, business intelligence (BI), BIM, and diversity and inclusion.
According to the report, there is significant room for improvement in project and portfolio success rates. Only 47% of projects are considered successful, and just 23% of teams possess all the necessary skills for successful performance. Full system integration increases confidence in successful delivery by 3.4 times.
Cost overruns are frequently observed, and leveraging digital technologies within PMOs is crucial for risk mitigation. Projects with a digital delivery plan reported twice the confidence in achieving successful outcomes.
