AstaReal AB Sets New Climate and Water Consumption Targets
AstaReal AB has updated its sustainability targets, aiming to significantly reduce emissions and water consumption in production by 2027. The company targets a 50% reduction per kilogram produced.

AstaReal AB has announced updated sustainability objectives focused on reducing its climate impact and water consumption in production. The company aims for a 50 percent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions per kilogram of product by 2027, using 2023 as the baseline year. The long-term ambition is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045.
The updated targets are intended to better reflect AstaReal's operations and the evolving sustainability landscape. The company also contributes to local energy supply through heat recovery from its Gustavsberg facility, providing approximately 20 percent of the local district heating demand.
Regarding water consumption, AstaReal aims for a 50 percent decrease per kilogram of product by 2027 compared to 2023 levels. In 2024, the company already achieved a notable reduction in total water consumption by approximately 17 percent. Feasibility studies are currently underway for circular water solutions, CO2 reuse, and further heat recovery optimization.
Furthermore, AstaReal has reduced resource use in packaging by transitioning to simpler and more material-efficient solutions. The company continues to focus on developing products and processes with an emphasis on quality, scientific evidence, and resource efficiency to advance health and nutrition.
