AstraZeneca Develops Early Talent Through Internships and Health Programs

AstraZeneca is expanding its efforts to support young individuals in building careers and developing future expertise within the pharmaceutical sector. The company aims to foster diversity and inclusivity in its future workforce through a range of global internship programs, STEM outreach initiatives, and youth health projects.

The company annually recruits approximately 5,000 interns for its international internship, industrial placement, and summer job programs. These initiatives are designed to provide young people with exposure to various aspects of the healthcare field and to introduce fresh perspectives into the organization, thereby fostering innovation. AstraZeneca also offers specialized programs for young individuals, including those implemented in the UK.

Furthermore, AstraZeneca supports Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields through its programs in the UK, US, and Sweden. The objective is to inspire young people towards careers in these areas through collaboration with local schools and organizations. The company's 'Young Health Programme' (YHP), launched in 2010, has focused on educating youth about non-communicable disease risk behaviors, training over 190,000 young people in health intervention delivery, and supporting systemic changes in healthcare.

AstraZeneca emphasizes the critical role of youth contributions in addressing global health challenges. The company supports young leaders and organizations through funding, mentorship, and educational opportunities, with particular attention given to those participating in health conferences and striving to improve healthcare access and quality.
