Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has launched Evinova, a new health technology business focused on accelerating innovation across the life sciences sector. Evinova aims to enhance the delivery of clinical trials and improve health outcomes through globally scaled digital solutions.
Operating as a separate business unit within AstraZeneca, Evinova will initially leverage existing digital technology solutions that the company uses to optimize clinical trial design and execution. These solutions are intended to reduce the time and cost associated with developing new medicines, bring care closer to patients, and alleviate pressure on healthcare systems. The new entity will also explore opportunities in digital remote patient monitoring and digital therapeutics.
Pascal Soriot, Chief Executive Officer of AstraZeneca, highlighted the potential of digital solutions in advancing medicine development. "We believe that Evinova's combination of scientific expertise and track record in developing AI-enabled digital technologies at scale offers a real opportunity to fundamentally improve patient care, drive healthcare transformation, and reduce carbon emissions," Soriot stated.
Evinova has already secured strategic collaborations with leading Contract Research Organizations (CROs), Parexel and Fortrea. These agreements will allow Evinova's digital health solutions to be offered to the broad customer bases of these organizations.
Further support for industry adoption and global reach will come from collaborations with Accenture and Amazon Web Services. Evinova will combine clinical and regulatory experience from AstraZeneca with expertise in digital technology, data science, AI, and behavioral science to offer its services.
