Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has achieved recognition for its digital transformation with two of its manufacturing facilities, located in Wuxi, China, and Södertälje, Sweden, being admitted to the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Lighthouse Network.

This designation acknowledges AstraZeneca's significant advancements in productivity, operational efficiency, and sustainability through the adoption of advanced digital technologies. The Wuxi site has implemented over 30 digital tools and AI-powered solutions, resulting in a 55% increase in output and a 44% reduction in lead times. The Södertälje facility has deployed more than 50 digital solutions, including AI-based digital twins and machine learning, boosting productivity by 56% and reducing new product launch lead times by 67%.

The Global Lighthouse Network is a select group of manufacturing sites lauded by the WEF for demonstrating leadership in implementing Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies at scale. The rigorous selection process evaluates sites based on their ability to drive significant financial, operational, and sustainability improvements.

AstraZeneca has been actively pursuing digital transformation across its global operations to enhance its supply chains and accelerate the delivery of medicines.
