AstraZeneca to invest $15 billion in China through 2030
AstraZeneca announced a $15 billion investment in China through 2030 to expand its research and development and manufacturing capabilities.

Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has announced a significant $15 billion investment plan in China, spanning through 2030. The initiative aims to bolster the company's research and development (R&D) and manufacturing operations within the country.
The substantial capital injection is intended to leverage China's scientific expertise and advanced manufacturing infrastructure. This will facilitate the discovery, development, and production of next-generation medicines, with a particular focus on cutting-edge areas such as cell therapy and radioconjugates.
AstraZeneca plans to enhance its existing R&D centers and production facilities across China, while also establishing new sites. The company will collaborate with Chinese biotech firms to broaden its pipeline and aims to become a leader in cell therapy capabilities within the region.
This investment aligns with China's national health objectives, including improving disease prevention, early detection, and accessibility to new medicines. The plan is also expected to foster greater healthcare innovation collaboration between China and the UK.
