AstraZeneca to present new data on inflammation and autoimmunity pipeline at ACR meeting
Pharma company AstraZeneca will present new research data from its inflammation and autoimmunity pipeline at the American College of Rheumatology 2014 Annual Meeting in Boston.

AstraZeneca, along with its global biologics research and development arm MedImmune, will present new data from the company’s inflammation and autoimmunity portfolio at the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 2014 Annual Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts.
More than 15 abstracts will feature findings on lesinurad in gout, sifalimumab and anifrolumab in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), mavrilimumab in rheumatoid arthritis, and brodalumab in psoriatic arthritis. These presentations highlight the company's ongoing efforts to develop treatments for patients with inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
Key data includes positive Phase III results for lesinurad, a selective uric acid re-absorption inhibitor, as a combination therapy for gout. This is particularly relevant for patients not reaching target serum uric acid levels with current standard treatments. MedImmune is also investigating two anti-type 1 interferon approaches for lupus: sifalimumab and anifrolumab.
The company will also present findings from a Phase IIb study of mavrilimumab for rheumatoid arthritis and data on brodalumab for psoriatic arthritis. These presentations underscore the ongoing research and development in collaboration between AstraZeneca and MedImmune to advance treatment options.
Collectively, the presented data covers a range of studies aimed at deepening the understanding of disease mechanisms and potentially bringing new therapeutic options to patients suffering from these conditions.
