A user has reported on Reddit that their Asus ROG Strix series 850W power supply, returned from a warranty repair, appears to have not been properly serviced. After reconnecting the unit, it caused the home's circuit breaker to trip after approximately two hours of operation. Repeated attempts to restart the computer resulted in further trips, indicating an issue with the power supply.
Upon disassembling the power supply, the customer discovered that the service center had apparently bypassed the faulty fuse by directly shorting it with a wire. This action disabled the unit's overcurrent protection function. The fuse is designed as a one-time safety component that must be replaced when it blows.
