ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) is set to release the "Octopus 8" gaming router in the mainland Chinese market. The new device supports the emerging 802.11bn standard, with its overall specifications closely mirroring the previous generation model, the "Octopus 7" (Rapture GT-BE96).

The router is powered by a quad-core 2.6GHz Broadcom processor and equipped with 2GB of DDR4 RAM. The "Octopus 8" features eight external copper antennas arranged in a circular configuration. It supports speeds of 1376Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 5764Mbps on each of the two 5GHz bands, resulting in a combined theoretical speed of 12,904Mbps (BN13000).

Connectivity options include two 10GbE RJ-45 ports, four 2.5GbE RJ-45 ports, and one 1GbE RJ-45 port. The device also provides two USB ports for additional functionality.

The ROG "Octopus 8" incorporates several core technologies from the 802.11bn standard, which are stated to reduce interference, enhance coverage, and provide more stable network speeds. The company claims that performance for mid-to-long range throughput and signal coverage for smart devices have been doubled.
