ASUS's ROG brand has opened pre-orders for its new "Octopus 8" wireless gaming router. The device focuses on flagship specifications, including dual 10 Gigabit and four 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, alongside support for Wi-Fi 8 (802.11bn). The router's exact price has not yet been announced.

Powered by a Broadcom quad-core 2.6GHz processor and equipped with 2GB of DDR4 RAM, the "Octopus 8" features eight external copper tube antennas arranged in a circular fashion. These antennas support theoretical maximum speeds of 12,904 Mbps (BN13000) across the 2.4GHz, 5GHz-1, and 5GHz-2 frequency bands. For wired connections, the router provides two 10GbE RJ-45 ports, four 2.5GbE RJ-45 ports, and one 1GbE RJ-45 port. Additionally, it includes two USB ports.

The ROG "Octopus 8" supports core technologies of the 802.11bn standard, which are advertised to reduce interference, expand coverage, and improve network stability. The manufacturer states that this technology doubles throughput at medium and long distances and doubles signal coverage for smart devices.

The release of this router comes as consumer demand for faster and more reliable network connections intensifies, driven by online gaming and the increasing prevalence of large file transfers. The "Octopus 8" enters a competitive market for high-performance networking equipment, targeting users with demanding connectivity needs.
