Ather Energy reports first quarterly profit
Indian electric vehicle manufacturer Ather Energy posted a net profit of ₹1.3 Cr for Q2 FY27. The company is now focusing on capacity expansion to meet supply constraints.

Ather Energy has achieved its first profitable quarter, reporting a consolidated net profit of ₹1.3 Cr for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. This marks a significant recovery from the ₹154.1 Cr loss recorded in the same period last year. The company also reached an EBITDA-positive milestone with margins at 4.9%.
CEO Tarun Mehta stated that the company’s immediate priority is scaling production to address a significant supply bottleneck. Internal estimates suggest the company is missing out on approximately 20,000 units in sales per month due to capacity limitations. Ather plans to invest ₹122 Cr to expand facilities in Hosur and Maharashtra, aiming for a total capacity of 1.14 million units by Q2 FY28.
Profitability was supported by the launch of the Konarc model and structural margin improvements through SKU management and price adjustments. However, the company faces ongoing pressure from elevated commodity costs for aluminum and copper. Future performance remains contingent on managing these costs while successfully ramping up output to meet high pre-order levels.
