Ather Energy reports Q2 profit as manufacturing expansion begins

Ather Energy recorded a consolidated net profit of ₹1.3 Cr for the September quarter of fiscal year 2027, reversing a ₹154.1 Cr loss from the same period last year. Revenue grew by 62.9% to ₹1,464.2 Cr, outpacing the 39.4% increase in operating expenses and signaling improved operational efficiency.

While the company reached profitability, financial reports indicate that other income played a significant role in the positive bottom line, as operating revenue fell slightly short of total expenses. This milestone follows the company’s transition to EBITDA-positive status in the preceding quarter.

To address rising demand, the company announced a ₹122 Cr investment to expand its manufacturing capacity by 225,000 units annually. Planned upgrades at the Hosur facility and the new Factory 3.0 are expected to be operational between late 2026 and fiscal year 2028. The expansion will be funded through a mix of debt and internal accruals.

This growth plan is supported by a recent capital infusion, with Ather raising ₹1,500 Cr through institutional placements and preferential equity allotments earlier this year.
