Atlas Restaurant Group Expands in Annapolis Amid Boycott Calls

Atlas Restaurant Group, the largest restaurant group based in Baltimore, is expanding its operations with new openings in Annapolis, Maryland. The expansion comes as the company faces renewed criticism and calls for boycotts.

The privately-held hospitality group, which owns over 50 properties across multiple states, will open two new establishments in Annapolis this week: Armada, a dockside cantina, and Marmo, an upscale Italian chophouse. Both restaurants are located at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, with Armada offering Mexican cuisine and Marmo focusing on steak and seafood.

Atlas already has a significant presence in Annapolis, operating The Choptank, The Admiral's Cup, and recently acquiring a majority stake in Boatyard Bar & Grill. The company is also Baltimore's largest private employer, with more than 1,600 employees in the city alone.

In addition to the Annapolis expansion, Atlas plans to open The Rosewater, a members-only supper club, in Baltimore's Harbor East neighborhood this fall. The club will feature live entertainment and amenities, with an initiation fee of $1,500 and a monthly charge of $75. CEO Alex Smith stated the pricing is intended to be significantly lower than comparable clubs in cities like New York.

The company's expansion plans also include future locations in Philadelphia and Washington D.C. While Atlas aims to bring upscale dining options to various markets, its growth has coincided with public opposition from some consumer groups.
